Remote work and optimism in Coronavirus times

I think that today nobody is exempt of what is happening with the coronavirus. We all have been impacted in one way or another (or several!). But it's not that bad. What can we rescue from all this?

First, the lucky ones who can work from home and who used to do it once a week, now have the opportunity to completely switch to this modality. Indeed, I must confess that I really enjoy it.

But this is not the only positive aspect. In this video you will find some tips for remote work and other advantages that I can see in all this situation. Here is a summary of what you can find on the video:

Advice for remote work

  • Find a quiet work space where you could avoid interruptions and, if it's possible, with natural light.
  • Respect your work schedules and build a routine. Planning will help you to reduce stress.
  • Adopt good practices for remote communications: use of headphones, muting when not talking, enabling the camera, connecting by wire instead of Wi-Fi, etc.
  • Take some regular breaks.
  • Use of all the digital tools that the company provides you with.
  • Keep in touch with work teams.

But… what's good in all this situation?

  • If we demonstrate good results working from home, this practice could grow and become more consolidate as a habit.
  • As the printers remain at the offices, we will use less paper and in consequence we will be taking care of the environment.
  • We sleep one extra hour and finish an hour earlier.
  • We can spend more time at home with our beloved ones.
  • We will adopt more hygiene habits and, consequently, the spread of other diseases should decrease.
  • Digital services will be promoted and, consequently, we will have more work in systems.
